Set Up ComplyAdvantage Bring Your Own License (BYOL)

Overview

ComplyAdvantage Bring Your Own License (BYOL) allows you to connect your own ComplyAdvantage (CA) account to Avallone using your existing API credentials, instead of Avallone’s shared credentials.

With BYOL:

  • Screenings use your own ComplyAdvantage quotas

  • All screening data remains under your ComplyAdvantage account

  • Screening functionality in Avallone remains unchanged

Important: Set Up BYOL Before Creating Screenings

BYOL must be configured before any screenings are created in Avallone.

If screenings are created using Avallone’s default ComplyAdvantage API key and you later switch to BYOL:

  • Previously created screenings will no longer be accessible

  • This is because Avallone cannot retrieve screenings created with a different API key

Best practice:
Complete BYOL setup during initial tenant configuration, before any screening activity begins.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure the following:

  • You have an active ComplyAdvantage license

  • You have access to your ComplyAdvantage API token

  • Your Avallone users who will run screenings have the
    SCREENING_INTEGRATION permission enabled
    (typically assigned to KYC Managers, but may vary based on your setup)

  • A user with support/admin access is available to complete the configuration

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Enable Screening for Your Tenant

  1. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager and/or support to enable screening for your tenant.

Step 2: Add Your ComplyAdvantage API Token

  1. Log in to the Avallone platform

  2. Go to Settings → ComplyAdvantage

  1. Enter your actual ComplyAdvantage API token

  2. Click Save

 

For security reasons, the token will be masked after saving.

 

Step 3: Configure Required Tags in ComplyAdvantage

To ensure proper linking between Avallone and ComplyAdvantage, you must create two tags in your ComplyAdvantage account.

  1. Log in to ComplyAdvantage

  2. Go to Settings → Tags

  3. Create the following tags exactly as written:

    • clientRefType

    • tenantId

  4. You may choose any color for the tags

  5. Save each tag

Important:
Tag names must match the spelling exactly, including capitalization.

 

Setup Complete

Once these steps are completed:

  • Avallone will use your ComplyAdvantage credentials for all screenings

  • Screening behavior and features remain the same

  • Screening data and usage are fully managed under your ComplyAdvantage account
