What this feature is for
The Elements tool helps you work more easily with large or detailed legal entity structures.
You can use it to:
- find a specific company or officer quickly
- jump directly to an item in the structure
- make targeted edits in a view
- simplify the structure for exports or sharing
- keep track of what is visible and what has been hidden
Important to know
Before you start, keep these points in mind:
- It is best to work in a view when preparing a structure for a specific audience
- Changes made in a view do not change the underlying company, officer, or relation data
- The Elements tool helps you manage what is shown in the current view
- If you make a mistake, you can use undo to reverse recent changes
- Undo/redo remembers recent changes during your current session
What counts as an element?
In a legal entity structure, elements can include:
- companies
- officers
- other
This makes it easier to work with the structure piece by piece instead of adjusting everything manually on the canvas.
How to open the Elements tool
- Open the relevant company and go to Legal entity structure
- Open the view you want to work in
- Enter Edit mode
Open the Elements tool from the side menu
The Elements list shows the items included in the current view.
How to find and select an element
- Open Elements
- Search for the company, officer, or other item you want to work with
- Click the item in the list
The structure will jump to that element so you can work on it directly
This is especially useful in larger structures where it may be difficult to find the right item manually.
What you can do with elements
Once you locate an element, you can make focused edits in the current view.
Depending on the type of element, this may include:
- selecting a company or officer to work on that part of the structure
- hiding parents to focus on one part of the chart
- anonymizing sensitive entities or officers
- removing unnecessary visual items from the view
- selecting lines or chips to simplify the chart
- managing text boxes used for explanations or notes
The exact options depend on the type of element you select.
Hidden elements in a view
When you hide something in a view, it is not deleted from the underlying structure.
This means you can:
- create a cleaner version of the structure
- prepare different versions for different audiences
- reduce visual noise without affecting the original data
A hidden item only affects the current view you are editing.
When to use Elements
Use Elements when you want to make specific, targeted changes.
For example:
- finding one company in a large structure
- cleaning up a few lines or chips
- selecting one entity to hide parents from
- reviewing what has been hidden in a specific view
Best practice
For the best editing experience:
- create a dedicated view before making audience-specific changes
- use Elements to find and edit specific items
- use Bulk for larger visibility changes
FAQ
Does using Elements change the underlying company or officer data?
No. It only helps you manage the structure visually in the current view.
Can I use Elements in the master structure?
You can use the tool there, but for customer-ready exports or audience-specific editing, it is usually better to work in a dedicated view.

Yes. The Elements tool is especially helpful when the structure is too large to navigate comfortably by hand.
What if I hide the wrong item?
Use undo to reverse the most recent change.
Can I use Elements together with free text and other editing tools?
Yes. Elements works alongside other structure editing tools such as Bulk, Reorganize, and free text.
