What this feature is for
A text note helps you explain the structure visually without changing the underlying company, officer, or relation data.
You can use it to:
- add short explanations to the structure
- highlight important context for a specific audience
- clarify ownership, control, or exceptions
- prepare cleaner exports with helpful notes
- create audience-specific versions of the same structure
Important to know
Before you start, keep these points in mind:
- Text notes are best added in a dedicated view
- A text note does not change the underlying structure data
- Text notes are saved only in the current view
- A text note added in one view will not automatically appear in other views
- Text notes can also appear in exports and shares from that view
How to add a text note
- Open the relevant company and go to Legal entity structure
- Open the view you want to work in
- Enter Edit mode
Open the text note tool from the side menu
- Drag the text note onto the structure
- Click into the note and add your text
Move the note into the position where you want it to appear
What you can use a text note for
A text note is useful when the structure needs a little more explanation.
Common uses include:
- explaining a complex ownership setup
- adding notes for internal reviewers
- clarifying exceptions or special cases
- labeling a section of the structure for a presentation
- adding context that should appear in an export
Edit and position the note
Once the note has been added, you can adjust it inside the current view.
For example, you can:
- move it to a different part of the structure
- keep it close to the relevant entities
- use short or longer text depending on the use case
- refine the wording before exporting or sharing
If you are preparing a customer-facing or board-ready version, it is often helpful to keep the text short and easy to scan.
Use text notes together with other tools
Text notes work well together with other structure editing tools.
A common workflow is:
- Create or open a view
- Use Bulk or Elements to simplify the structure
- Use Details to reduce visual noise on the cards
- Add one or more text notes where explanation is needed
- Use Reorganize if needed
- Review the final view before exporting or sharing
When to use a text note
Use a text note when you want to explain something in the structure rather than change what is shown.
For example:
- a certain shareholder should be read in a specific way
- a part of the chart is included only for context
- a note is needed for a specific recipient
- you want to prepare a structure for internal review or presentation
Best practice
For the best results:
- add text notes in a dedicated view
- keep notes concise and relevant
- place the note close to the part of the structure it refers to
- review the structure before export to make sure the note improves clarity
- create separate views if different audiences need different notes
FAQ

Can text notes appear in exports?
Yes. Text notes can appear in exports and shares from that view.
Can I remove or change a text note later?
Yes. You can edit, move, or remove the text note in the current view.
Should I add text notes in the master structure?
It is usually better to add them in a dedicated view, especially when the note is meant for a specific audience or export.
